Boston Cooking School

Like gender and sexuality, food has been the subject of intense debate, conflict, and regulation throughout history. This talk focuses on the New England cookery movement and the diverse palettes it sought to standardize and tame.

Ardis Cameron, Ph.D. is Distinguished Professor Emeritus in American and New England Studies at the University of Southern Maine. She is the author of numerous articles and books on ethnicity, gender and American culture and has been awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship for her exemplary scholarship.
